Where to find journals

The shelf mark tells you where to find journals on the shelves and it looks like this

for example: 60 / 75 F 2

60 = location code
75 = subject
F = initial letter of the journal
2 = serial numbering

Locations

Holdings with the location codes 80/81 are situated in the departmental library 6 , Pauluskirchstr. 7, holdings with the location codes 86/87, as well as 88/89, are situated in the departmental library 7, Reiner-Gruenter-str. 21. All other location codes indicate that the items are located at the central library building (building BZ).

Special cases: Holdings with the location codes 04/05 are located in our closed stacks, holdings with the location codes 06/07 in our media centre.

Please note that back issues of journals are shelved in our closed stacks due to shortage of space. This applies to all volumes published before 1991 from the departmental libraries 1, 2, 3 and 5 (building BZ) and all volumes published before 1990 from departmental library 6 (Pauluskirchstr.).

Special case Departmental Library 4: All journals up to and including 2007 and all cancelled journals of the Departmental Library 4 are in our closed stacks.
